THIS AGREEMENTS STARTS ON THE DAY OF ACTIVATION OF YOUR SERVICE

This Applies no matter if you own or rent a radio station from us

If you broadcast copyright music your responsible in getting your own licence Shoutcast King Staff or Agents is not responsible for holding a licence for such a radio stations we have the right to suspend or close the broadcasters account if you disagree and without notice

we do have to enforce online broadcasting regulations. This means you need written permission by all rights owners to the music you play or a license from the organisation that hands these out in your territory

The following is required for our UK-based clients (as described above):
For online broadcast, two licences are required. One from PPL & one from PRS For Music – for both licences combined, it will cost you just over £300 for the bare minimum package.

We do not force any of our users to purchase these licences and will not suspend any services if we find that they are not licenced. However, if we receive a complaint from PPL, PRS or a music artist/record label – we will be forced to remove the audio file which has been complained about. This could also lead to termination of the main account. You will be notified of this before anything is deleted from your account

Do I Need a License?

Unlike terrestrial radio, you don’t need to own a license to broadcast online.

However, if your station is going to be playing commercial music, as opposed to a talk radio station, you may need to obtain a license in order to fully protect yourself and ensure you are not infringing on anyone else’s copyright. In most cases, the copyright is normally held by the recording artist or record label.

Blanket License

Internet radio station’s cover themselves by paying for what’s known as a “blanket license” or “umbrella license“, it covers their station and allows them to play any type of music.

Most licensee’s like this are paid on a yearly basis and can vary in price depending on the country you are broadcasting from and the countries you will be broadcasting to.

In some instances, if licenses covering particular countries aren’t in your price range then you can block access from listeners by using “geofencing“.

Geo-Protection – AKA Blocking Listeners

Shoutcast King Geo-Protection feature allows you to easily block or allow listeners from any country, which is handy depending on the license your radio station holds.

Allow countries access to your station, blocking all others from entry which you don’t want tuning in.

Licensing Bodies

There are a variety of organisations and bodies who look after music copyright and royalties depending on your country, for example here are the UK’s licensing bodies:

  • PRS: The “Performing Rights Society” collects royalties on behalf of artists, composers, and cover music that’s played on TV, radio, and online.
  • PPL: The PPL represents the interests of record labels and collects royalties from radio stations on their behalf.

Choosing a licensing body solely rests on where you intend to broadcast audio, for instance, if your audience is in the USA then you can use SoundExchange. Here’s a list of internet radio licensing bodies by country:

If you want to broadcast just talk or royalty free music then you don’t necessarily require a license.

Royalty Free Music

You need to pay for a music license once and then you can use the music for as long as you want and play it however many times as you want without yearly fees.

A royalty free license is usually a lot cheaper than a statutory license because you are not buying tracks for a set amount of time, instead, you are purchasing the rights to use to use tracks forever.

INFORMATION COLLECTED THROUGH THE SITE
Some personal data is collected through the site when you voluntarily choose to provide us with personal data.

Contact Form – The information collected via the contact forms simply allows us to reply to you/answer any questions, etc.

Leaving a Comment – If you leave a comment on the site, we ask for your name, email (which is not displayed on the site) and website (if you’ve got one). This information is used so other visitors will know who left the comment and to help us stop spammers.

we own all domain names that we buy and build radio stations on you are renting from us at the agreed rate by month or by the year you pay all renewals on a yearly basics we write to you 90 days before the domain name/s exires

Buying a radio station from us

you can buy any radio station from us at any time during sign up if you are renting a radio station from us you have the option after one year to buy the station from us

once you buy the radio station from us we offer 30 days after sales supoort we dont offer any support after the 30 days unless you host wirth us

Install of Radio Software & Encoders

we can install encoders and radio automation software on request we charge £30 for this service please send requests by going to our contact us page

Updating your website

If you want us to update your website or design another page we charge £50 per page

up dating a existing page is £30

we are open for business 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday Closed on Weekends Bank and public holidays

WE DONT HAVE TO GIVE YOU ANY NOTICE IF YOUR SERVICE HAS BEEN CANCELED
